Innovative Titanium Wire Fence
In a high-corrosion coastal environment, our customer needed a durable, transparent fence that could withstand the elements. Nearby stainless steel fencing had already begun to show significant surface rust, raising concerns about long-term performance.
After thorough investigation, we sourced titanium wire—at a surprisingly lower cost than conventional wire fence kits. This solution not only provided exceptional durability but also maintained a sleek, matte finish that blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings.
Additionally, the fence features concealed, heavy-wall commercial galvanized posts, ensuring structural integrity for a lifetime. The result is a modern, virtually maintenance-free fencing solution that outperforms traditional materials in harsh coastal conditions.
Technical Problem Solving With First Nations Art
We were honored to have the opportunity to showcase our expertise by designing and executing a specialized treatment system for The Earth, Our Mother—Billy Gauthier’s largest sculpture to date. Carved from a fin whale skull and weighing over 600 lbs, this remarkable artwork presented unique conservation challenges.
During an examination at The Rooms last October, our conservator discovered insects deeply embedded within the sculpture. Before reaching Gauthier, the whalebone had spent over 40 years outdoors, making preservation a complex task. To ensure the piece could be safely moved indoors for permanent display, we developed an innovative and meticulous conservation approach.
